KFO 130 – 1963 Land Rover Series IIA – Survivor !!
Rare to find in this condition – this particular Land Rover came to us back in 2000 in a rather unusual way.
Local businessman Mr Stephen Johns was in the process of retiring, selling his business and embarking on a dream that he had had for his retirement – a museum of unusual vehicles and memorabilia. He was looking for some particularly unusual Land Rovers for what was to become the famous”Exmoor Classic Car Collection”.
Naturally, looking to find the best and most unusual examples available he came to visit us here at the Land Rover Centre.
Over the period of a couple of months he purchased a number of Land Rovers from us, including a concours example of a period Series 1 recovery truck fully fitted with all the equipment, a very low mileage Land Rover Fire engine, one of the ORIGINAL Tower of London Ceremonial Lightweight Land Rovers – and a deactivated 25 pounder field gun to tow behind the lightweight !
During this period, he negotiated to exchange “his old Land Rover” KFO 130 – and we were very happy to be able to take it in exchange.
It was as delightful then as it is now.
As you will see from the pictures KFO is a great survivor. It has certainly had some very light restoration work over the years – but everything that has been done has been perfectly in keeping with such a lovely example of this iconic Land Rover.
When sold by us in 2000, the mileage was 31,615 – Current mileage is a measly 36,811 – believed to be genuine, and this is backed up with the driving experience as well as previous MOT certificates:

This Land Rover is ready to be used and admired exactly as it is – or the new custodian may consider some “improvements” – entirely to their own taste, choice and budget:
Canvas Tilt – The existing canvas is in usable condition and has lovely patina – but a new canvas would give a very fresh look (£329)
Front seats – These have been upgraded to deluxe black vinyl – a set of period reproduction “Elephant hide” would take the interior to a new level (£342)
Rear seats – none currently fitted, but many of our clients will request these to use as occasional seats for extra passengers (2 x rear bench £139 – Black vinyl, £264 – “Elephant hide”)
Rear Lap belts – None currently fitted – set of 4 (£220)
All of the above options are “in stock” and can be quickly and easily added to the Land Rover fit your requirements.
Having driven the Land Rover today, I can report that it is an absolute pleasure to drive, and attracts a lot of attention – (Mark Griffiths).
The chassis and bulkhead are in exceptional condition and mechanically everything has the feel you would hope from such a low mileage Land Rover.
The Land Rover will be fully serviced prior to hand over, have a full 12m MOT, and free road tax will be arranged on behalf of the new owner
Don’t forget, a £500 holding deposit will secure any of our Land Rovers – please ask for details.
