Description
SFU 455 – 1958 Land Rover Series 2 – Fully rebuilt
“Mabel” was supplied new by DH & AH Bloomer (Grimsby) to a farm in North kelsey (Lincs) – where it was put to work for the next 25 years.
In 1983, she failed her MOT and ended up in a scrap yard in Holton Le Moor, before being saved by her second owner Michael Shepherd who acquired her by way of a swap for his Chrysler New Yorker !, and subsequently carried out her first rebuild, before being put to work on HIS farm
In 1990, Mr Shepherd moved to North Somercotes, and Mabel played her part, towing a military trailer back and forth to assist the move.
By 2004 Mr Shepherd was ready to retire, Mabel needed another rebuild, so reluctantly they parted company. The history file includes a hand written letter from Mr Shepherd, detailing Mabel’s early life, including the fact that during her first 46 years, she only once ventured outside Lincolnshire – to Beverley (East Riding of Yorkshire).
Today, Mabel has been fully rebuilt to exacting standards, with meticulous attention to detail – so she is now ready for another lifetime of enjoyment, with all parts either being refurbished or new old stock items.
