The long road.
Derek and his wife Jill have been customers and “Friends of the Land Rover Centre” since 2011, when Derek purchased his 1971 Land Rover Series IIA from us.
Derek and “UMR” are a familiar sight around the car shows during the summer in Missouri, and we have received many pictures over the years – Keeping us up to date with its many appearances.
So, we were the natural choice when he was looking for a Defender stable mate for the Series IIA
A suitable donor vehicle was found and the restoration begun.
They were looking for a solid and reliable example, that could be upgraded to the later look with metallic paint and leather interior etc.
All this was planned well before COVID and unfortunately, the restoration has taken much longer than anticipated.
So – it has been a long road.
However, today we were able to take “TNJ” out for a nice run and we are at last getting towards the end of our journey with it.
We always like to “shake down” our rebuilds when complete, and as soon as this is done and we are 100% happy, “TNJ” will set sail on the first leg of its journey to Derek and Jill in Missouri – and begin it’s new life in America.
A special mention at this point for Derek and Jill – who have been super patient with us during these difficult times – and we look forwards to many updates from Missouri in the future.
