Sleeping Beauties
We are often asked “Where do we find the Land Rovers that we buy?”
The simple answer is that more often than not – “They find us”
A lot of Land Rovers we buy come direct to us from their previous owners, before they are ever offered for sale on the open market.
That was the case a few weeks ago, when we received a phone call from Mark
His father had unfortunately passed away, and along with sorting his affairs, he also had a Land Rover to dispose of.
Not just ANY Land Rover – but a 1972 early Series 3 Land Rover that his father had owned from new that has covered only 24,000 miles – and has been dry stored in his garage – unused for the past 25 years !!
We traveled down to collect the Land Rover and it is now back at Land Rover centre awaiting the light recomissioning that it needs.
However, as you can see from the pictures, alongside the Land Rover in his fathers garage was another sleeping beauty – a 1979 Ford Capri – In stunning Daytona Yellow – again, unused for approximately 25 years !
His father had owned the Capri since he bought it from a friend when it was only 6 months old, and it has covered a mere 16,000 miles from new!
Yesterday, we travelled back down and spent a further 3 hours , carefully extracting the Capri from the garage and back out into the daylight.
Again, the Capri will undergo light recomissioning before being offered for sale.
Both vehicles are what I would consider to be “Museum Quality” – so please pass on the details to anyone you think may be interested in owning either of these rare survivors.
